All About HollowMark Comics
HollowMark Comics was created as a space for quiet storytelling—stories that do not rush toward resolution, but instead linger in reflection. It is a place for moments often left unspoken, for characters shaped by what they carry rather than what they conquer, and for the subtle marks life leaves behind. Founded by artist and educator David Fuentes, HollowMark Comics is rooted in the belief that meaning is often found in restraint. These stories favor presence over spectacle, listening over explanation, and interior transformation over outward triumph. They explore identity, loss, resilience, and the ways people learn to move forward while still honoring what remains. Drawing has been Fuentes’ way of understanding the world since childhood. Influenced by the visual language of classic comics and illustrated storytelling, his work balances imagination with emotional honesty. Living with Cerebral Palsy has shaped how he observes and experiences the world—not as a defining limitation, but as a lens that values patience, attentiveness, and depth. This perspective informs the quiet pacing and reflective tone that runs through all HollowMark stories. The name HollowMark speaks to the traces left by experience—the spaces carved by grief, fear, love, and survival. These marks are not meant to be hidden or erased. They are evidence of having lived, and they shape who we become. HollowMark Comics returns to this idea again and again: that growth does not always come from overcoming, but from understanding, acceptance, and presence. Fuentes earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi and his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Dallas. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and featured in publications highlighting his perspective as an artist living with Cerebral Palsy. He currently teaches Art History in the Fine Arts Program at Del Mar College. At its core, HollowMark Comics is an invitation—to slow down, to sit with uncertainty, and to recognize yourself in quiet moments of reflection. These stories are not meant to provide answers. They exist to be felt, carried, and returned to—much like the marks that shape us.

"I always wondered if I would look at the world differently, if I didn't have a disability...would I have the same personality, be left handed, or an artist."
